I've been following this exchange about the cancer patient and chemo. My experience goes back well over 13 years when my wife was diagnosed with metastatic stomach cancer. By the time it was discovered, most of her organs were already involved. They put her on chemo right away. She never lost a single hair after almost 3 months of it. After 4 months, I had to put her into hospice care and she died a few weeks later. I have always wondered if she was "really" getting chemo, or were we being lied to. My aunt, years before, also had chemo and almost immediately lost her hair. Why didn't that happen to my wife?

she handled her second chemo very well

the delay put her schedule a week off and they do not like that

the white cell count was high enough to giver her the second

new anti-nausea meds, no reaction and they worked - she was queasy, but stayed quiet the first day till it passed

her port area is inflamed, so they are watching it closely

the day after chemo, she went in for the injection for building white cells

the dinner last week went well - I told her she looked lovely and she did, pink shorts, striped pink and white polo, pink baseball cap - at first she was very conscious of wearing the cap, but after everyone was there, she relaxed and the brimmed got turned up

she ate light - loved the CD - we blasted it and danced to the signature song

the access hyper feeling is gone and she now naps for a bit in the afternoon

later in the week we had tics for Chita Rivera's 'A Dancers Life' - she felt good enough to go and had a great time, only slightly tired and it was a late night

everyone is different and she is hot most of the time, not cold

and, the gardening is over - her husband put his foot down and now he is doing the gardening - she watches and it's driving her crazy, but her shovel is laid down for the summer

btw, Chita looks fabulous for 73 - those legs......
