Published in that commie pinko rag called... "The American Conservative" :-) Who publishes it doesn't really matter, unless perhaps your making an argument from authority, and trying to assert "The American Conservative" as some authority that people should defer to. Somehow I don't think you want that. Also to the extent it matters even the tiniest bit, that magazine is affiliated with Pat Buchanan, and has been anti-war since before the war. So its hardly remarkable that they publish an anti-war piece. If we were paying attention to arguments based on their source, anyone who even slightly leans toward the idea that we shouldn't pull out now, would discount that source. Of course to do so would be to engate in the same sort of ad-hominem that you where engaging in earlier (well not as nasty, but just as much focusing on the person rather than the ideas). Getting around to the actual point of the article, Stewart Nusbaumer's opinion that the attempt to deal with the situation in Iraq will fail. Well maybe he's right. Any war might fail in some way. Even a purely conventional war, against an overwhelmingly weaker opponent might have results that the more powerful opponent won't like. And such negative results can easily happen in "nation-building"/anti-insurgency efforts. OTOH one person expressing their opinion that we will fail, is just that. One person's opinion. Also if we do fail, that doesn't imply that it was impossible to succeed. If we fail its likely to be because we just gave up on the effort.
