The first link says that its almost the same, not that its the same. That doesn't contradict the idea of "derived from".

The 2nd link says "is based on", not "is the same".

The third link contains a link to an article that also says "is based on". It goes in to more detail, and indicates the benefits in terms of performance would be less then will be achieved from K10 - "You can take everything you are looking forward to being in Phenom and throw it out the window, as AMD is starting from the same K8 core that launched in 2003.", OTOH "thankfully AMD did toss in some enhancements. Griffin gets a new North Bridge, a new memory controller, a power optimized Hyper Transport 3 interface and a 1MB L2 cache per core."

So it would seem Griffin is much closer to K8 than K10, but its hardly identical, it should have better performance and in particular better (lower) power use.

Unless they can increase the mhz more than I expect it won't be a high end solution, but its not necessarily "a Semperon".
