My *guess* is that, for the first time in a decade or so, it's possible.

There is enough ferment in the Party, and a desire to coalesce around an iconic Small Government and Freedom philosophy that it is possible now.

(Remember, when Goldwater ran for the Presidency --- did the ideas he enunciated win out *immediately*? Or, as with MOST big philosophical movements, did it take time to mature before it could bear fruit?)

I would be willing to bet that 90% of the Republican party is in total agreement with Rudy on abortion. The other 10% are single issue and loud.
