I thought Krugman's argument made sense. It's more evidence of the degree to which the Republican party has been captured by the 21st century know-nothings. It could well lead to a realignment of politics. They'll either retain control over the Rep Party, leading the moderates to look elsewhere, eventually; or they'll lose control, a la a Giuliani nomination, and leave the party.

Our notion of political parties as cumbersome big tent affairs may not hold the tensions of the new century. The Dems have their own problems which will come to the forefront should they win the presidency in 08.

Those are two reasons I oppose him... civil rights, torture and
budget deficits... How many BILLIONS does he want Congress to approve of now for the war.

AND meanwhile in Mississippi the trailers that still house victims of the Katrina disaster are inhaling fumes from the
formaldehyde and are developing health problems..

I am a believer in taking care of ones own before trying to take care of the neighborhood.
