Ok, what is BS, Steve? The fact that DDT can be used to eradicate disease vectors? That is a fact, you know. Although, I suppose, facts can be considered BS... Or the fact that malaria was never "nearly eradicated"? At least not on a global basis. If, for no other reason, no serious attempt was made to eradicate it in sub-Saharan Africa. That is a big chunk of the population most susceptible to malaria. Or what? Where is the BS? Other than it goes against your solid believe that environmentalists do more harm than good, that is. But ideology, especially ideology that has no, or limited, basis in reality shouldn't be a determinant of whether something is BS or not. The fact of the matter is that DDT was becoming a problem in the 1960s. It doesn't metabolize readily, and when it does, the metabolite is more dangerous than the DDT. It is a fat soluble, so once it is in your system, it stays around for a while. And high concentrations of DDT or its metabolite, DDE in the blood of pregnant women greatly increases the risk of a premature birth, hence contributing to infant mortality.
