Conmen evangelicals go back a long time. Read Elmer Gantry. Says it all. Just more commercial now. The tent revival culture which morphed into televangelism has always been the domain of hucksters, conmen, phony faith healers, etc. Just the flipside of the carnival coming to town, a religious Vegas. Put down your money and hope to get saved. Nothing to do with the real teachgings opf Christ. And the unholy alliance with big corporate interests that gouge US consumers and taxpayers is really un-christian, and un-American.

What does Exxon have to do with Reverend Haggard or Timothy McVeigh? They're all on the same side politically. Of course in private the GOP corporate elite laugh at the religious right and call them wackos.
