Hello KimFay... I think I'd rather talk about the "F" words. Like... Fear: popmatters.com Or maybe Faith: stltoday.com Frankly I am amazed that they can get 25% of my fellow citizens to say they think things are just peachy... Perhaps they're the same die-hards who still believe Bush is doing a good job? But I'm not about to bet on it... I've lost far too much underestimating our capacity to ignore reality. Of course, on the bright side, this is certainly not the first instance in which we have completely lost our national mind. In fact... it seems to me that Alexis de Tocqueville was actually too kind. I believe we've been insane ab initio. Hmmm... Now that you force me to think about it, I could make an extremely persuasive argument that... but for the unifying influence of the Universal Pursuit Of Property Fixation under which more than half of us operate... we would all be living in isolated mud huts; eating termites; and gnawing on the bones of our most recently eliminated neighbors. Then again... that would just be an academic argument.
