Opinions sound quite knowledgeable and fairly drawn, well stated.

It is complicated. Dulles did us no favours here. Adventurism and assumption of a mandate to change was not based on any seeming fairness. People's heads rolled to provide easy access to oil. Letting the states do what they would could have been equally dangerous. Pelahvi was a crock, sans doot. But the question remains, can anyone rule there democratically or otherwise without the use of unreasonable force, pogroms and suppression of rebellious elements by extreme means? It is apparent that radical Muslim forces do not believe so.

Are we the good guys? Should we be? Let us at least engineer not to be the dead guys, and perhaps not the ruled over. I would like to give everyone a fair chance, provided I am dead sure they will afford myself the same opportunity.
