Its hardly surprising that a more aggressive stance gets more of our people killed. OTOH a more passive stance, while it might save lives (at least American lives) in the short run, accomplishes nothing and results in more deaths in the long or maybe even medium run. As if this would accomplish anything! It won't. Most experts have said things are getting worse. And at this point, even adding a million troops would not make a difference. The main issue I have with the surge was why it wasn't done earlier. It was done before, idiot. And it failed. Only difference is - it was not labeled a "surge" at that time. So the present futile exercise is just old wine in new bottle. "and is likely to be the bloodiest May" But not the bloodiest month, or even close to it. Why does it matter much if past May's where less violent if other months where more violent? Does someone injured or killed really care that it happened in May rather then March or June? No, idiot. It is because the gap between one May and the next May is two Friedman Units (FUs). You idiots have kept on saying for 3+ years now that things will get better in the next FU or two and if they don't in one or two FUs, it is too late. Of course, after the two FUs, you will come back and ask for one more FU. It is time somebody told you "FU!" to you incompetent thugs and kicked you out so hundreds of our soldiers' lives will be saved though it is too late for the 3400+ that are already gone.
