re "Just as domestic felons lose certain rights, those captured on battle fields do also." Only CONVICTED (tried)felons lose rights. Some one captured on a battle field is a POW. However, what about some one pick up in a raid? The very nature of this "WAR"is that there are very few "battlefields". Also ,as in america, there are many gun owners(afgan,iraq).....not all are taliban or al Queda. If your village was being fought over.....your family in danger, what would you do ?Resist?try to keep your family safe from whoever it might be out there?....no phone,no lights What of the poor father taken away because he resisted.Taken half a world away from his children ..his loved ones.He is innocent ,but there is no one to listen to his pleas.........
