>It's a conservative conspiracy to keep wages down.... take my word for it. Otherwise why would Bush be for open illegal immigration and amnesty?

Oh, I completely agree... but then again, I'm also for a significant increase in the minimum wage.

A HS buddy of mine became a garbage man after HS. When he told me this, I was floored. Such a no status, stinky job!

Then, he told me what he was being paid, which was three times what I was making, with super benefits. He was also super buffed, tanned and totally fit.

That salary hasn't changed in 35 years, but now illegals do it for "privatized" contractors with no benefits.

It's a conservative conspiracy to keep wages down

I agree.

The Busheviks have angered and alienated much of the Republican voter base with their clownish behavior since 2000. Cracking down on illegal immigration would be an easy way to get the voter base back on board. And they could easily use the false excuse of "border security" and Al Qaeda as a cover story. But they aren't doing it.

The Republican Party stands for many things, but in the end, when they have to choose, the one thing they will go to the matt for, the one thing they will expend precious political capital on - is to keep workers' wages down and business profits up.
