Maybe the consignment shop you hire to sell your old furniture is also a fiduciary, who knows, the world is a crazy place these days. Maybe someone held a meeting I wasn't invited to and expanded the definition of "fiduciary" beyond all reason, and everyone else went along with it without stopping to ask why.

Maybe Ebay is now a fiduciary and you can sue them if your piece of french toast with a pattern on it that resembles the Virgin Mary doesn't sell for quite as much as it should have.

The agency relationship created in real estate transactions between brokers and principals is regarded as a fiduciary relationship.

Not sure whether a similar agency is created in the case of stock brokerage.
