I live in the Boca Raton/Highland Beach area. Tons of pretense here. Amazing how many Bentleys I see every day. To me, they're just $250,000 Toyota Camrys.

I just don't get it. I like gadgets and cars, and have splurged in the past, but it just doesn't do it for me anymore. Cars have become generic, commodified and technology has dramatically lowered the cost of what were once high-end features.

I have a friend who owns a Honda S2000 and a Ferrari 360. I've driven both cars, and - quite frankly - a good driver in the Honda would give the Ferrari some trouble. I then have to wonder why you would pay 7x the Honda for the Ferrari? Ultimately, it's just a pose....a fashion statement.
