Considering the problems encountered by Sasol, who has years of experience it this field and massive R&D investments, you have to wonder about a company such as Rentech. They have done virtually nothing to prove their technology, and have invested little over the past decade on R&D. Rentech says they have all of these CTL deals pending, yet they have never tested their technology at even the pilot level. Who is going to give them financing when even a 10,000 bpd plant will cost about a billion dollars?
