Crimson > There are new aspects to the current violence, perhaps most noteworthy is the emergence of a militia in Lebanon that has no clearly delineated connection to any particular family or traditional ethno-confessional leadership in the Lebanese context. There is some new political logic or system at work here, but it is irresponsible to present simple or pat explanations.

So, either no one knows what is going on or else they don't want to say. Therefore one must ask the same question one had to ask about 9/11 when one didn't know what was going on -- who benefits? And, as far as I am concerned, the suggestion that some unknown Islamic group, which has appeared from nowhere, is the beneficiary is absurd. I will go even further and say there are only two principal beneficiaries of all the mayhem and chaos in the Mid East -- sweet, little Izzy and his big brother, Sam. And until it can be shown clearly that the turmoil in Lebanon is to someone else's advantage, I'm prepared to back my own gut feel that these are the culprits.
