In the Israeli media, this type of thing is referred to as a "peace offensive" (*) and is considered an act of aggression. Fortunately, the American media didn't have to resort to that because it simply wasn't reported.

Yeah, that was back when the American media, owned by the American corporate world who elected Bush in the first place, was nothing more than the mouthpiece of the Whitehouse. Reporting this issue back then would have made the WH look bad; Iran, a member of the notorious axis of evil, actually making a peace gesture??? Say it ain't so.

As for the Israeli media, for a long time, the Israelis have toyed with the notion of becoming the people they despise....the German nazis of WW II. Naturally they have to portray the Iran offer as offensive.
