It seems that Africa is the only place where we can all say we are from. But it's a big place.

With some work, geneticists should be able to follow DNA back and figure out where the first humans were within Africa and how long ago [based on mutation rates].

My guess is not too far from where chimpanzees still find it quite nice to live.

But "going back" is problematic. China won't allow me to go back there as of birthright. England and France won't. Those are very recent ancestral lands. So I don't fancy my chances of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Morocco, and Egypt inviting me "home" either [I am guessing at those aspects of my ancestry but with some genetic evidence].

By 2085 Africa will enter their demographic window. By then LATAM and Asian will be going out of theirs. The Africans will start dominating world's economy from then on.
