John or another accountant on this thread....

I was looking at CMM's financials for First Quarter and had a few questions.

1. What is CMM's EBIT for the Q? I took the 2,660,825 number [Income (loss) from operations before other items] off of the Income Statement, is this the right number?

2. I calculate a Working Capital of (9,043,000). Is this correct?

3. I don't see Retained Earnings on the Balance Sheet, is the amount listed as "deficit" the same thing?

John,

Hey what do you make of the 'accounting change' that CMM did in order to adjust stripping costs and push more of those from the Sigma Pit into a Balance Sheet account: Deferred Stripping? I thought that costs were suppose to be matched to revenues? At least that is my rudimentary understanding of accounting principles and what I can find on FASB web site for deferred stripping.

What say you? Legit or Shenanigan? Or is it more complex than that?
