You have an incredible capacity of non-sequiturs.

Some jihadist or baathist milita is the same as an NVA armored unit? Scattered ambushes and car bombs are the equivalent of over-running the enemies command centers with tanks supported by aircraft and artilery? Of course not.

To the extent that any force in Vietnam is the same as the milita's in Iraq (and really none of them are highly similar) its the Viet Cong. That's the force that was never able to take down the South Vietnamese government. It took conventional warfare to do that. It took an invasion from another country to do that. What other country is going to invade Iraq and roll in to Baghdad ? Iran? Not while US forces are in the area in support of the Iraqi government, even if those forces are not actually in Iraq.

So there is no force to play the role of the NVA. No force that is simply going to roll in and displace the Iraqi government. There is instead a number of forces that can cause destruction and problems, but no force that can simply impose defeat on the Iraqi government.
