Lack of perfect and total control by the current elected government does not equal the existence of perfect and total control by the Taliban. The Taliban has been reduced from being the government, to being a guerilla force. ... we do care about the supply of oil. Yeah, make sure that your bullets hit only the Iraqis (who can later be labeled terrorists) but not the oil pipeline! Not all Iraqis are noncombatants. Our bullets mostly hit the combatants, who are waging war against us and against the Iraqi government. Of course war is a messy violent thing, and yes we do accidentally hit innocent people. As opposed to our opponents who purposely kill innocent people. As for the oil, there is nothing wrong or unreasonable about trying to protect important resources.
