(Perhaps he uses those words because it has been such a crashing failure at achieving our nation's long-term strategic goals. Suggest if we wanted to have bin Laden killed or captured now we should position forces to ABSOLUTELY BLOCKADE Pakistan's border with Afghanistan.)

(Perhaps he was imagining that it would be a war conducted with at least a minimum of competence and successful results? Instead of what looks like an extended series of ill-considered and misplaced actions more akin to *shooting ourselves in the foot* over-and-over, and aimed at bankrupting our nation, and breaking our military....)
