People who don't live near the border have no idea how bad the problem is. Hospitals are obligated to deliver those babies, who instantly become Americans. None of that medical care is ever paid for.

How about if an illegal who delivers a child in the US has the child granted US citizenship, taken from the mother and placed in a fast track US adoption agency, and the mother is tossed in jail if she can't pay the medical care cost? That would slow the process down pretty well, and keep the born in the US = US citizen process.
