believe the only restrictions on stem cell research have to do with projects that are federally funded,

I'll grant you that. Is there any doubt though where the christian right would like this to go though?

looking mostly at federal intrusion without factoring in the value of federal defense of individual rights against intrusive local authorities

Hmmm? Like Kansas school board? Hmmmm?

But how can you rely on the federal government to make the right decision? You rely on the federal government, I place my faith in local politicians with the federal government ONLY as a check and balance. I suspect on this one we will just have to respectfully disagree. I firmly believe the federal government has no place in dictating morality - and that's what they started to do under Bush. Stem cell, Right to Die with Dignity and Teri Shivo as but a couple of examples. Oh yes, and overturning state medicinal use and decriminalization of pot.
