They have not helped thus far. Every country in the ME has proven time and again that they will put their own interests over the good of Iraq. Iran is currently trying to fuel a civil war there. Should they also be included? How about Saudi Arabia, where some of the most fundamentalist sunnis live? Should they participate too?

I can see from your post that you really have no solutions.

I meant a solution to the islamist threat as a whole. While these may prove to be effective strategies on the military side of the Iraq issue, would any real progress be made against the islamists without changing the rules of engagement? Or do you feel there is no islamist threat, if we weren't in Iraq?
