Just curious, why not just say 2 guys next door? Is there something significant about them being gay and how it relates to the incident?

Find the gas meter and shut off the intake valve with a crescent wrench.

Edit: Maybe they cut the residential service line. Mine used to be metal, but it was replaced some years ago with plastic tubing because it flexes better in an earthquake. I think you could cut it pretty easily with a sharp spade, so I'm quite careful if I have to dig near it.
