think of it as a 'reflective' moment, not political. I do not think there are many eunuchs on the SI boards anyway & once awhile things happen & people speak their thoughts as a healthy outlet. it somehow lends itself to a more wholesome thought process in how people go about their lives & maybe how they invest their monies...my idle ex-crap-olation.
just as long as the vile crap is dismissed as just vile crap.

Ron Paul is a goldbug, supporter of real money, and therefore completely on topic here ... it's politics yes, but the sort of politics directly relevant to our juniors ... wouldn't do to let discussion of it turn to partisan bickering and bore everybody, but to such extent that this fellow can raise awareness of economic circumstances du jour he will have effect on our speculations

Can't have a blanket prohibition on politics - orebodies are rather geographically fixed by nature, very much subject to the turns of local tides ... markets for metals are subject to various political winds as well

'Paul's personal financial disclosures reveal extensive private investments in gold and silver, through equities and warrants in companies including Newmont, IAM Gold, Barrick Gold, Golden Star Resources, Golden Cycle Gold Corp, Pan American Silver, Great Basin Gold, Eldorado Gold, Freeport McMoran Gold & Copper, Apollo Gold Corp and Placer Dome.[34]'

... well technically those would be investment positions, wikipedia
