Still Sarkozy asked to have his picture taken with Bush during his campaign. Sarko and Bush weren't just walking down the street in opposite direction and happen by one another.

No, French troops aren't going to Iraq. That doesn't mean France isn't an ally, as much as you might with them not to be. They are in Afghanistan after all. They have been formal allies via NATO even with Chirac. With Sarkozy, that is not just a formality I think.
