Rather than focus on his plagiarism and research misconduct, the focus was on the "Little Eichmann" comments. Thrust of the story was that it was the comments are what focused attention on him and resulted in the current disciplinary recommendations.
Which may be true. It hardly excuses his other misdeeds.

If you insist on charging machine gun nests, you better plan on stopping bullets. He had the option of not making outrageous comments about innocent victims going about their daily lives trying to support their families.

Maybe more rocks in the garden of academia need to be turned up. The litmus test for those coveted and cosy tenured positions shouldn't be whether the incumbent hates Bush, but whether s/he is actually a legitimate scholar.

That's how libs manage to get away with so much BS. When one of them steps out of line, any excuse, no matter how lame that gets repeated a few times is sufficient to wipe the slate clean for the leftist perp. And from that moment forward the lame excuse is forever the "real" reason the whole brouhaha came about. It's a take off on the old saw, 'one lies & the other swears to it'.
