thanks....so far the 110 number has been a hard nut to crack....but the doc said that the red blood cells affected by excess sugar/carb have about a 4 month 'shelf life' in the body....

They worry more about fat intake then Atkin did but in essence your friend needs to be on a no sugar low carb diet.

all sugar has been eliminated and very low carb....mostly salads, proteins (meat and cheese, eggs).....so i guess he will just need to persist with the diet plan....he's exercising (walking) but i read that weight training actually has a more beneficial effect on diabetes, getting the excess sugar out of the blood into the muscle
