JF, consider that it took about 30 years before South Korea became a democracy in spirit as well as name. All of the previous leaders of South Korea before Roh Tae Woo in the late 80s and early 90s were U.S. supported strongmen.

And South Korea didn't have the problem of interfactional fighting as Iraq does today.

I don't know how Bush came up with that analogy, but I hope he had something else in mind than what it looks like on the surface.
