Market does not like things to get spooky
Yes, and IMO in many SA countries (Equador included)elections are not the only method. There is the right leaning, the left and the military. The military uses force and is not necessarily aligned to either side.

The gold is there, but there is a political fight for control.
The chance for big return and a definite risk always go together.

In 71, I was in Quito when Castro came and gave a speech.
There was excitement. The military then rolled their tanks through the streets, wealthy and poor areas both, and simply turned the cobble stone streets to rubble. They displayed power.

My take is that although things have changed, anything is possible. When we sit up here it is not so obvious. R

"The only thing IMO that will resolve this is a change of goverment to a business oriented govt elected by popular vote"

You don't know what you are talking about. Correa has an economics degree and was fairly elected.

Correa has done absolutely nothing against business there. You can't name one thing.

Some people think the rest of the world must do things the "capitalists" want them to do. Thank GOD there are some intelligent politicians out there who reject this concept.

Also he needs to put a lid on the right wing media IMO

a different opinion

"Unfortunately, neither the Latin American media nor the IAPA have particularly noteworthy histories, having accommodated themselves quite handsomely during the era of military dictatorships in Chile, Argentina, Guatemala and El Salvador, when fearless reporters were being mercilessly gunned down by rightwing death-squads."

"Even promises from gov't. will be very suspect now. It is ludicrous to believe that govt will grab oil and gas but not energy. The only thing IMO that will resolve this is a change of goverment to a business oriented govt elected by popular vote. I think that scenario is not forthcoming in the near and intermediate term."

More......this is complete and utter BS....Correa WAS elected so don't expect the population to bring a fascist back ....do you work for ABX or whoever floated that fascist piece of anti Latam propaganda emanating from Washington written by a short selling syndicate wanting cheap shares? How long have you been in this industry? You know full well how this is done I would think

Frankly, we don't need an ARU basher or a Correa basher here to echo or propagate more lies and propaganda against Ecuador. There are many here who invest in ARU and don't appreciate people knocking it or the country they do business in. Anyone here who knocks CKG or Mexico is sure to get a swift reprimand and yet CKG has proven nothing compared to ARU.
