IB would have gotten hurt no matter what they used, algos, tea leaves, hairy armed floor traders. Trading with algos if you are a REAL buyer or SELLER makes perfect sense. You are just trying to get in or out at the least cost over a period of time. Trading with algos as a TRADER is a much more difficult process, since you are not investing, you are trying to scalp against the investors. The bizarre trading theses boxes are doing continues to amaze me. Flushes, whipsaws, all at 1 millisecond timeframes. Soon -1 millsecond will be announced.
