re: Not really. I really think it's up to the Dems on this one. Remember, these aren't the same Dems as when you grew up in the 50's-60's. Yeah the Dems now are much farther right. But listen you don't have to couch everything in Dem/Rep terms. As others said, the primary benefit of open immigration goes to business profits and puts pressure on labor/low end salaries. The issue is similar to energy independence/GW. Lots of Republicans are getting behind that not only to "save the earth" but because it's an exceptional business opportunity. You need to get past your prejudices.
