Not surprising: <he tried to weasel out of it by claiming the Dow is already at 5000 if you consider inflation.> Some people feel the need to be right no matter what, or they think they have lost face.

Sensible people know that being right is something to be grateful for if they can achieve it with lots of brains and hard work, and luck invariably counts in their being right.

Some immodest people will claim things such as Taiwan being returned as a chattel of some megalomaniacs in Beijing is "inevitable", enforced by mass murder if needs be. Adolf marched into Poland too, and things looked excellent for a while.

One would think that megalomaniacs, taking only a casual peek at history, would see that stamping around on top of other people is not necessarily a good idea. It's so built into human DNA [those of us more closely related to chimps] that it's easy to be seduced by the eons-old amygdala imperatives and limbic functions. en.wikipedia.org

TJ and his Beijing rulers are obviously closely related to chimps. I guess he is about 98.5% chimp. He is also closely related to weasels, but that's a more distant association.
