Dave

I've been selling covered calls for quite a while. Made very good money on GSS. I have been buying GG stock (Goldcorp) and selling calls for income. Last trade I did was to buy GG at 23.68 and sell the Jan 2009 25 call for 4.5. So my cost was 19.18 and if all goes well the stock will be called away from me at 25.00. This returns 19% annuallized, which is nice for the "income" portion of my PF. Worst case, I own GG at a cost of 19.18. This is a good counterbalance to all of the more speculative positions like SPM, DNT, CKG, EPM, etc. etc.

Covered calls can be used in an IRA in the US.

Mike

Love leverage, but I like to think that I have a 55% chance of being right on something when I enter it.

The puts can be a useful hedge tool at times. Money risk on options is limited to the amount you put up for an option buy or sell. If you put up a thousand dollars then that is your max. risk.
Warrants give you no dark side opportunities.
