Offshoring is a complex phenomenon, that has many positive and negative effects for workers. The negative effects tend to be more direct and easier to see, the positive effects are harder to see, because they benefit many people in small ways. 1000 people losing their job is something you can see, 100,000 gaining from greater effciency in the economy is not nearly as visible. But even if offshoring did hurt workers, the type of government control over the economy that would be necessary to prevent it would hurt workers even more.
