Crimson, That would be an excellent idea. Cut to the chase, have a referendum in Taiwan and establish a constitution. If China wants to start a war because people don't want to live under their thumb, better to find out sooner than later before things get built which will be knocked down. Murderous megalomaniacs need to be stopped.

Back Taiwan to run their own country how they like.

Backing Israel is likewise an excellent idea as a nice big base in the midst of Islamic Jihad which is bent on bulk murder of infidels.

Neo-cons pushed for Taiwan independence ? - I don't believe the neo-cons are that stupid, or would have that as part of their current agenda. Maybe after the middle east was conquered.

There is certainly considerable overlap between neo-cons and the "free traders" and "panda huggers" in economic policy, so this would not fit in with those policies...unless someone is totally clueless about the PRCs reaction.

There is a some smaller overlap with the neo-cons and the "China threat" people, but I think this is pretty small.

I think this may be another way to paint the neo-cons with being irresponsible naive lunatics, and thus marginalize the neo-cons.

Wolfowitz is gone, this would be a good reason to sweep more neocons out of foreign policy positions.

This could mean an end to a faith based foreign policy...;-)

Neo cons? Who really know the case are the old-Cons! Do you rememebr the senile old farts during the USSR parades?

The USSR was for all practical purposes kaputt. Did hey seek new ideas for a new leadership? No. They stuck with 83 year old people.

A 62 year old was considered 'young'.
