OT: I got carried away in my tomato plant buying this year. All three sources I use had plenty of interesting stuff and I ended up with no fewer than three dozen plants. This includes plenty of heritage and unusual varieties, including, in fact mostly, cherry, plum, and pear tomatoes. Among the colours the fruits will be when I harvest them (besides red) are pink, green, orange, gold, yellow, black, and various stripes.

Each colour and variety has its own distinct flavour. If I was pressed to choose favorites, they would probably be: Sungold, an orange cherry tomato with a rich intense flavour; Garden Peach, a bright yellow full size tomato that actually does look like a peach, with a very sweet and interesting flavour; and Black Krim, a heritage variety whose top half turns deep green when it ripens so combined with the underlying red it looks black, and that has a very strong flavour that can stand up to the pesto I'll be making from all the garlic and basil I am also growing.

I also grow herbs, zucchini, lots of brassicas (kale, brocolli, brussels sprouts, mustard greens, arugula) and beets and chard, and blackberries and raspberries, all in a back yard in the middle of the city.

P.S. Tom, don't worry. I'll get back on topic tomorrow when the markets are open.
