Clearly Iran doesn't have the rocket technology needed to hit europe. That said - Putin has been kind of a nasty bastage for quite a while now. I really think it would be in the best interest of Russia, Europe, China, Israel and several other countries in the middle east to NOt have Iran go nuclear. I think everyone needs to think about whether or not a country like Iran would be willing to hand off nuclear technology to groups that would be willing to strike at most of the above countries/continents. On the issue of how we got here....we've been well on our way for a long time now. The division from within is real bad and its getting worse. I've watched this thing ebb and flow since Nixon. I think I was 7 when he left office. The unrest before Nixon and since has been growing. We're so divided that there is just no way we can blame it all on one person. I think our political system has thrived on division and they've fostered it well. I think its up to us to demand better from both sides because this is killing us. Whats sad is not only do we need to defend against outside terrorism but now we have to worry about the terrorists from within as well. Our government (on both sides) has helped to create the division we have and its going to be the end of us. I think there are probably a number of home grown groups that if given the chance would do something that could destroy the country and culture we've had. We'd all better think about what role we play in where we are as a country. If nothing else we've allowed ourselves to become puppets to our political system.
