I can tell you what my physical therapist suggests- icing. She suggest 10 minutes at a time. I use a bag of frozen peas- it feels good. She also recommends some of the over the counter rub on pain relievers.

Are you sure you didn't get a fracture or something? I mean the above remedies are for an injury that was already treated, as much as possible. But you might want to get an xray if the pain doesn't go away. It's hard to tell bone ache from other aches- and speaking as someone who lived with bone chips floating free in a joint, you do NOT want to do that.

Ligament and tendon injuries can also give you some pretty deep feeling pain. Don't mess around, if it doesn't resolve- go get some medical attention.

Depends on where your injury is. If you ice it tonight and it's not significantly better tomorrow, I suggest seeing a specialist. You want to rule out rotator cuff damage, which can worsen if not treated early.
