But "Israel" is not just another country, it's a war machine --you can't "live in peace" alongside a war machine. Any why are they a "war machine"? Because they have been REPEATED ATTACKED/THREATENED by EVERY neighboring country. When you're outnumbered in terms of people, you'd better have a qualitative edge if you're going to survive in a hostile neighborhood.
