To: Cyprian who wrote (15456 ) 6/8/2007 1:30:42 AM From: Cyprian Respond to of 22250 When Martin Luther became disillusioned with the new and innovative traditions of the Papists (he was right about that much), I guess I didn't word that too well now did I? New and innovative traditions? Something that is new and innovative isn't really traditional. I should have simply put new and innovative teachings, which departed from tradition. All Christians MUST follow Holy Tradition. It is not optional. Of course so-called "Christian" Zionism has no place in the tradition of the Church. It is a corrput and Judaic doctrine. Protestants love to claim how they follow the Bible and the Bible alone. They claim that if they can't find it in the Bible they do not have to follow it. Perhaps these Protestants simply ignore passages such as the following: Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. (2 Thessalonians 2:15) Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. (2 Timothy 2:1-2) Protestants ignore these passages to their own condemnation, claiming that it is not necessary to follow unwritten traditions. St. Paul says "whether by word our epistle". Therefore Christians are instructed to follow unwritten traditions as well as the written ones. St. Paul says, "the things that thou hast heard of me..." He is speaking about ORAL teachings not written. "...among many witnesses" he is not speaking about secret doctrines that no one could have any hope in discovering, he is talking about public teachings that were orally given "among many witnesses". These oral traditions have been in place for nearly 2,000 years and have been testified in the writings of the Church Fathers, which span the entire age, from the first century to the current one. They are universally accepted around the world by Orthodox from all ages and all nations.
