Patent Ruling Strikes a Blow at Qualcomm. I told MQ patents are an anachronism but he keeps defending the concept.
Paul E. Jacobs, chief executive of Qualcomm, said the I.T.C. overstepped its statutory authority and the decision had the potential to disrupt the supply of handsets in a way that, he said, could hurt wireless carriers, and consumers.

part of a broader dispute between Qualcomm, one of the biggest makers in the world of chips for mobile phones, and Broadcom, which makes chips for many digital devices and is trying to gain more business in the mobile phone market.

Japan is the only pragmatic developed country. It already accepts that it is going to return to the insignificance where it came from. Please, note that return to natural size, in the case of Japan, the natural size is really tiny, not the case of the U.S. where they can return to its natural size and still account to 15% of the world's economy, down from 45% cuirca end of WWII.

Japan is thinking: why not deffer that return to natural size by sending technology and capital to China and provide capital to the world cheap cheap? This is pragmatism. Accept your fate and act accordingly.

TJ

Talking of discomfort,. dollar strengthens against the Yen. Just a fluctuation I expect. If it gets to 122 it will be time to add to positions (gulp).

I expect Gold to get a sell off soon as well, with the higher interest rates and USD strength (if it holds up). Good time to add, maybe?

i feel strangely detached, and energetic, and certain parts of me tighten up :0)

It's natural with all that talk about bar girls and tight bodies on roller skates in Singapore. :}
