I recall past stories and debates about whether you can trade options in a retirement account. It depends on who you use. The broker may frown upon it because of the nature of risk with options, and besides, they usually want you to buy their mutual funds instead, ya know, buy and hold, and all that. Fees......

But, if you shop around, you can do it.

Since you have individual selection set up with your 401(k) plan, I suspect your broker would let you trade options if you press the issue and fill out the papers.

Congratulations on the Firm growth, John. Super! Glad your hard work is paying off!

Good Morning Cactus, I know for a fact that E-Trade allows options in an IRA....I also believe that it is allowed at Brown and Co and Scottrade....I am sure that there are many others. You do have to be set up your account to trade the options or they will tell you that you can't trade them in that acct..

Hope all is well with you.
