I happened to catch Play Misty for Me the other night. That movie didn't get much attention when it came out in 71. But it must have gotten someone's attention because the similarities between it and Fatal Attraction can't be coincidental - obsessed woman with a knife, slices wrists to get sympathy from her victim, becomes roommate/friend of hapless girlfriend/wife. Destroys victim's property house/car. In the end, obsessive woman gets punched by victim who is defending his girlfriend/wife, ends up dead in ocean/bathtub. But, of course, Clint Eastwood was much, much cuter than Michael Douglas.
