I stand by my previous statements. Doctors do not buy drugs, and drug companies do not market TO doctors. There is no financial benefit to the doctor to prescribe the latest trade name drug unless it offers a unique benefit to the patient. Patients, OTOH, often do not trust an available generic as much as a name brand. The drug companies make very sure the consuming public knows the name brand. Doctors would prefer not to argue with patients who know it all.

PS - I stressed where NEW drug money was going, but you appear more concerned about common practice of the past 30 years. After your first 3 free dinners, it's like going to church. You may not really believe, but you are in the habit.
