Even before man-made diamonds, I stayed away from the diamond sector because my knowledge of it was less than zero.

Seems like there should be romance in being able to buy a diamond ring and pay the rent too?

Diamond stocks made sense in the depths of the metals bear, they still had the aura of winners in the years following the Diamet hit, and they had sort of a predictable pace, fairly reliable seasonality ... only one i did well on though was Winspear wsp.v, and even then deBeers got it for five loonies the share, big anti-climax ... but at least nickels tied up there weren't being lost to attrition in the golds ... since then i've had no interest, and not likely to in the near future

i very well recall that once, Superman -- his powerful arm plunged into a quicksand pit somewhere in the african jungle -- squeezed a lump of coal for about 30 seconds and *turned it into a massive diamond* -- and this was in the 1960s! -jb
