Do you think the US should just accept ANY indignity?

Yes, pretty much.

What's your threshold for going to war?

A holocaust; genocide of a people; the willy nilly invasion of free, democratic nations by a dictator like Hitler.

I think Carter should have demanded the release of the hostages, with a deadline, and flattened Tehran if the deadline wasn't met. No war needed. But, he was too much of a born-again pussy.

You think flattening Teheran, killing millions of innocent people, is the equivalent of taking 52 hostages from the US Embassy. Do you really think that's reasonable? If so, we may well have gotten the president we deserve.

Bush invaded Iraq with NO provocation at all.

I consider the taking of hostages not a provocation for a war.
