I think it's corn syrup during the winter and some of the BT crops, which we know leave bees vulnerable to infection. My birth mother knows bee keepers, and she says the ones feeding cane sugar and working organic fields are having excellent survival rates. I don't know if that's just anecdotal- I've been looking for articles. I've posted some here from time to time- BT is certainly suspected, and corn syrup as food has also been thought a culprit.
